Information & FAQs for visitors

The MCBW 2021 program can be found right here on our website. In addition, a printed MCBW Program Navigator and the MCBW- Guide containing brief details of all events will be published prior to the MCBW. Both pint products will be available during the Design Week at the venues of the participating program partners as well as at our info point in the MCBW FORUM and at MAGAZIN® or as a download below.

In our partner region Landshut, the program can be obtained directly at the Landshut City Hall.

The registration and access procedures for all MCBW events are specified individually by the program partners and communicated on the respective event pages on this website. We do not have a central registration system or a comprehensive festival pass.

During the MCBW, you can contact us every day from 8 am to 6 pm via the MCBW service phone at +49 89 38 66 76 60 and via lLive-Chat on the MCBW website.  In addition, staff members are available at our info point in the MCBW FORUM. You are also welcome to contact us by mail at service @ mcbw.de.

The program area "DESIGN SCHAU! for Design Lovers" is available to everyone and displays design in all its facets for a larger public. The program area "CREATE BUSINESS! for Professionals" is intended as a dialog and networking platform with focus on the industry and the goal of creating closer links between the business world and the design sector. The distinction serves primarily as a content-related orientation and does not indicate a general access restriction. Please refer to the respective events for more details.

Visually, events from the category "DESIGN SCHAU!" are marked in yellow and events from the category "CREATE BUSINESS!" in blue.

All event pages can be set to English on the website menu. Additionally, English editions of the MCBW Program Navigator are available at our info points. Events in English are labeled as such or can be found specifically using the "Languages" filter function in the online program.

All events held at our festival headquarters, the MCBW FORUM, are barrier-free. Information on the accessibility of events hosted by program partners can be found on the respective event page. Barrier-free events can be found specifically using the "Accessibility" filter function in the online program.

As part of our DESIGN KIDS program, we offer workshops for children at the MCBW FORUM on both MCBW weekends. Moreover, a family film can be viewed as a digital livestream in our digital DESIGNKINO on weekends. Kids-friendly events can be easily searched using the filter function "Events for kids" in the online program.

The event series MCBW After Work also continues throughout the year, as do a wide array of formats hosted by the MCBW sponsor bayern design.

The partner application as well as the event submission for the MCBW 2021 is already closed. For the MCBW 2022, the partner application is scheduled to start in June 2021. If you are interested, please contact us beforehand at contact @ mcbw.de  or visit our website in due course.

Information on how to deal with COVID-19

Before attending a live event, we urge you to consult the websites of the relevant local health authorities to stay updated on current regulations regarding the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please refer to the website of the City of Munich for the latest pandemic information and containment measures in place in Munich.

Make sure the event organizer has your contact details. At live events, please follow the safe-distance instructions and hygiene precautions. Use sanitizing facilities and avoid touching surfaces unless you absolutely have to.

We strongly advise you to wear a mask in all indoor venues and at outdoor events where the required safe distance cannot be observed.

If you feel sick, have knowingly had contact with an infected person or have recently been to a risk area, please refrain from attending any live events at the MCBW 2021.

In a joint effort with our program partners, we try to keep the MCBW 2021 as varied and casual as it used to be, but at the same time as safe as humanly possible. Program partners are required to strictly adhere to minimum distances, maximum visitor numbers and hygiene precautions for all live events and to provide sanitizing facilities.

The MCBW 2021 will take place at the scheduled time from 6 to 14 March 2021 - whatever the circumstances. We encourage all MCBW program partners to focus their planning on hybrid or fully digital events. If needed, the event pages can also be adjusted by the program partners at short notice to reflect current developments. It is therefore quite likely that in case of a new lockdown or further restrictions, events will increasingly be held in digital format.

Whether fee-based events are provided with a cancellation option or money-back guarantee is at the discretion of the respective hosts.

MCBW is following the recommendations of the German government, which currently makes it mandatory for event organizers to collect visitor data to facilitate contact tracing for subsequently verified COVID-19 cases.

These data may only be transmitted to the relevant health authorities upon request for the purpose of providing information. All data documentation shall be safely stored away from third party access and the data shall be protected against unauthorized or unlawful processing and accidental loss or damage.
