Saskia Steinmann

Dr. Saskia Steinmann received her PhD in Psychiatry in 2016 and is currently working as a Postdoctoral researcher in the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Branch at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. Saskia applies different imaging methods to study the pathophysiological mechanism of psychiatric dirsorders. She has received several fellowships, is author of many publications in peer-reviewed journals, and holds a lectureship at the University of Hamburg. In 2018/2019 she has been a visiting scientist at the Harvard Medical School's Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory. Saskia is particularly known for her work on brain hemispheric dysfunction as a mediating factor behind auditory-verbal hallucinations in schizophrenia translating into the „interhemispheric miscommunication theory“.
