Do we need a New School of Design? Discussion about the current debate on design education and the role of design as a scientific discipline.

The Bavarian State Ministry of Science has initiated a comprehensive amendment to the Higher Education Act, which calls for universities to develop new teaching and research structures of their own to allow for greater flexibility as well as more excellence. What forward-looking role can design research play here in the exchange with other scientific disciplines? Together with representatives from colleges and universities, business, science, politics and research, this year's Grantler's Corner is addressing the current debate on design education and design research.
