About MCBW

 

MUNICH CREATIVE BUSINESS WEEK (MCBW) is Germany's largest design event, and at the same time an international showcase for the creative industry and the design sector in Bavaria. Over a period of nine days, MCBW provides companies and designers from all fields with the opportunity to present themselves to experts and the design-interested public in Munich and the surrounding area in various event formats, such as exhibitions, lectures, talks, panel discussions, etc.

Following the leitmotif "Design connects" and the two program areas, CREATE BUSINESS! for Professionals and DESIGN SCHAU! for Design Lovers, stimulating design experiences are created, expert knowledge is shared, reports on trends and the latest innovations are presented and contacts are established to enable an all-encompassing immersion into the world of design.

The Munich design week emphasizes its concept- and content-based orientation with changing thematic focuses alongside the major social trends: 2021's slogan "Shaping futures by Design" is not just due to the debates on COVID-19, climate change and the energy revolution, since it is also good design that drives the future: ecologically, economically and socially. Accordingly, the future of education, health, work, security, communication and cities will be presented and discussed in six thematic clusters during MCBW.

Design connects!
The MCBW claim "Design connects!" stands above all for the Bavarian way of life and the unique proximity of design and economy:
Design connects – people with people, people with technology, the analog with the digital.
Design connects – the practical with the emotional, the functional with the aesthetic.
Design connects – the past with the future: Designers take on today's challenges, develop solutions for both entrepreneurial and social needs and create sustainable models for tomorrow .

MCBW is organized by bayern design GmbH and sponsored by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology as well as by the City of Munich. Steelcase and Ströer provide substantial support as current MCBW partners. Internationale Handwerksmesse  is MCBW exhibition partner, the new regional partner is the Lower-Bavarian region of Landshut. Design Austria provides fresh design stimulus from Austria in 2021. Another MCBW partner to be mentioned is the BMW Group. Design provides an image to the future.
